Tumakuru: Four people, including a three-year-old child, were killed in a head-on collision between two cars near Godekere Gate in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk of Tumakuru district on Friday. Four others suffered serious injuries in the accident.
The crash involved a Volkswagen and a Kia Sonet. According to preliminary information, the Volkswagen, carrying three people and travelling from Chikkanayakanahalli, was attempting to overtake when it collided head-on with the Kia Sonet, which was travelling from the Turuvekere side with five occupants.
The impact killed two occupants of the Volkswagen, identified as Vivek and Pavan, both from Chikkanayakanahalli, on the spot.
The Kia Sonet driver, Dawood, from Turuvekere, and a three-year-old child travelling in the car also died in the collision.
The four injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment and were later shifted for further medical care. Their condition was reported to be critical.
Police from Chikkanayakanahalli station reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
