Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra has strongly condemned the alleged raising of anti-Hindu slogans and stone-pelting during an Eid Milad procession on K.R. Road in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, and accused the Congress government of failing to maintain law and order.
In a post on social media, Vijayendra alleged that the incident was a result of the state government’s “appeasement politics” and claimed that repeated incidents of this nature reflected a failure of the Home Department.
Questioning Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Vijayendra alleged that the police department was being misused for political appeasement and asked whether the government was providing protection to “anti-social elements” at the expense of public safety.
He questioned how citizens could feel secure across the state if such an incident occurred in the heart of Bengaluru. He also alleged that repeated incidents were taking place because those responsible believed they would not face strict action.
Vijayendra said protecting the life and property of every citizen was the primary responsibility of the state government. He urged the government to set aside political considerations and immediately arrest those responsible for the alleged attack and initiate stringent legal action.
He further warned that the government would be held responsible if law-and-order conditions deteriorated, and demanded immediate action against those involved in the incident.
