Udupi: A torchlight march and special meeting were organised in Karnataka’s Byndoor by the taluk unit of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike to mark Akhand Bharat Sankalp Diwas, with hundreds of activists and supporters participating in the event.
The programme was organised with the stated objective of fostering patriotism and creating awareness about nationalism. Participants took part in the torchlight procession amid chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
Addressing the gathering, keynote speaker Keshav Bangera said preserving and strengthening India’s unity, integrity and cultural heritage was among the key objectives of the Akhand Bharat Sankalp.
He said the younger generation should be made aware of the painful memories of Partition as well as India’s history and the ideals of freedom fighters who made sacrifices for the country.
Bangera said youngsters from the Gen Z and Gen Alpha generations should draw inspiration from revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh, who sacrificed his life for the nation at a young age. He urged the youth to imbibe patriotism and actively contribute to the country’s security and development.
Advocate Nagaraj Golihole presided over the programme. MP B Y Raghavendra and MLA Gururaj Gantihole were among those present.
Hindu Jagarana Vedike district coordinator Rajesh Uchil, senior functionaries Aravind Koteshwar, Shankar Kota, Vasu Gangolli, Mahesh Bailoor, Umesh Sooda, Ratnakara Gangolli and Rajesh Acharya Byndoor, besides taluk coordinator Harish Salkodu, attended the programme.
Senior workers of the Byndoor taluk unit flagged off the torchlight procession. Mahesh Vasre administered the pledge, while Jahnavi Acharya rendered Vande Mataram. Vijeth Bankeshwar compered the programme.
