Agartala: The Tripura Police have expanded the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag from three to 10 members, intensifying the investigation into the case.
Anurag, a 1994-batch IPS officer, was found dead in the washroom attached to his official chamber at the state police headquarters on July 20. An SIT headed by West Tripura SP Namit Pathak was constituted on July 24 to investigate the incident.

The reconstituted SIT now includes officers from the cyber crime unit, multiple police stations and senior investigators. The team has been directed to hold review meetings twice daily and submit progress reports to the SP.
Meanwhile, Congress Working Committee member Sudeep Roy Barman has demanded a judicial inquiry under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Tripura High Court. He alleged that the circumstances surrounding the DGP’s death were suspicious and called for a thorough investigation, claiming it could be a case of murder.
Police have not disclosed the cause of death, and the investigation is continuing.
