
Patna, July 6 (IANS) A major burglary was reported from the Daniyawan police station area of Patna district, where unidentified criminals allegedly used a gas cutter to break into a mobile showroom and its warehouse, then escaped with cash and electronic goods worth nearly Rs 40 lakh.
The incident occurred at Neha Mobile Corner, located in Galaxy Tower behind the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Daniyawan market. The theft has triggered concern among local traders and shopkeepers.
According to the shop owner, Surendra Kumar, he closed the showroom at around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday and returned home. Police suspect that between 1:00 a.m. and the early hours of Monday, a group of four to five miscreants arrived at the shop equipped with a gas cutter. The accused allegedly cut through the shop’s shutter and iron grille before entering the showroom and warehouse.
Police said the burglars escaped with around Rs 3.20 lakh in cash, along with expensive electronic items, including Apple iPhones, Vivo smartphones, 10 HP laptops, televisions, batteries, and other merchandise.
The burglary came to light on Monday morning after an acquaintance informed the shop owner about the damaged shutter. Upon reaching the premises, Surendra Kumar found the shutter cut open and immediately alerted the Dial-112 emergency service.
In the presence of the police, the showroom and warehouse were inspected. Officials found that the cash in the safe had been stolen, along with a large quantity of electronic goods.
Senior police officers, including Fatuha SDPO-2 Sanjeev Kumar, Circle Inspector Maya Kumari, and officials from the Daniyawan police station, visited the crime scene soon after receiving information.
Considering the scale of the theft, teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the dog squad were also called in to assist with the investigation.
Police are collecting forensic evidence and examining CCTV footage from the showroom and nearby establishments to identify those responsible.
SDPO Sanjeev Kumar said preliminary investigation and technical evidence indicate that four to five individuals were involved in the burglary.
He added that multiple police teams have been formed and are conducting raids at suspected locations to arrest the accused and recover the stolen property. Police expressed confidence that the case would be solved soon and that those responsible would be brought to justice.
